Lloyd
Rail continues to invest heavily in the recruitment and training
of staff. OTM staff undergo a minimum 3 year training programme
and this, combined with the projected future demand from our
clients makes it a business imperative that we recruit and
train staff who will be fully qualified and gain the practical
knowledge gained by senior staff to meet this demand. In cooperation
with City & Guilds, Lloyd Rail has put in place an intensive
training programme for formal qualification of OTM operators.
On-the-job training alongside senior operators ensures transfer
of knowledge into the next generation.
Despite
the current economic environment, Lloyd Rail has increased
staff levels by 30% over the past 24 months. Senior staff are
being trained in new technologies on an ongoing basis. Trainee
operators are undergoing a planned training programme to equip
them with the required levels of skills and certification that
will allow them act as fully competent machine operators, fitters
and electricians. All of our trainee operators are either fully
qualified rail machinery fitters and or electronics technicians
and others have significant computer skills.
The
training programme is a three year process and our trainees
are currently staggered through this training regime with the
first trainees to join Lloyd Rail now passed out and fully
qualified.
As
a certified City & Guilds training centre formal examination
and certification of trainees is conducted in house by Lloyd
Rails fully qualified trainers and assessors and the entire
process is monitored by our Health & Safety and Training
Delivery Manager.
